FREEDOM

I see the burning of the cage,
Curtain rising on a new stage
.

Yesterday while returning back to home I saw a caged sparrow, she was such a pure, innocent creation of Almighty who took away my attention at first sight. The owner of this cage was flaunting her like his property to impress people around his surrounding. My eyes got stuck over on the sparrow. I tried to rotate my eyeballs but I can’t. He was flaunting her but she seems like dead to me. People were praising her beauty, force her to speak but not a single one tried to free her from that cage. In there eyes she was not a life, she was just a piece of entertainment and fun who was alive. Every time when the poor sparrow feels unwanted touch she get more scared, running, shouting nervously in that small cage. People found her helplessness as source of laugh and connecting it with her entertaining activity. But I felt her pain of being caged, unwanted touch, being mocked, helplessness for FREEDOM. I can hear her crying heart, I can sense her dead soul, I see her lacking towards life. It was painful to watch her in this condition. No more faith and hope have left inside that poor creature to breathe in the air of FREEDOM. Her sufferings freshen up my buried wounds. Next day while returning from office to home I was only thinking about the sparrow. I entered in my lane and I was filled with joy and my eyes got wet with the tears of happiness. The cage was empty, sparrow is free now. While flaunting her so called owner forgot to lock the cage. Now she is breathing FREEDOM, she is flying wherever she want. There is no one to stop her. Situation and her sufferings of being caged made her strong, fearless, daring. She is on new stage now.

Here I want to convey two important message through this short story. The first one is never cage any animal. Let them live free too. We keep pets, we provide love and care to them, that is why they care for us too, they find it comfortable, they trust us. They want to live with us willingly because we provide them FREEDOM as well. But never cage them. We all have equal rights to live and breathe in FREEDOM. They are not just animal, they are also full of life. Always treat them the way we treat our family members because when they trust over on us, “We Humans” they accept us as there family and will always be loyal until there last breath. COVID-19 is a kind of human cage. We all unwilling caged our self because of pandemic situation. Now we all are praying to breathe once again in the air of FREEDOM. This situation made our condition similar to that caged sparrow. We want to go out, we are fighting for it but we are helpless like poor sparrow. So when we can’t breathe in caged situation just for few months then why to caged poor birds, animals unwilling for lifetime. It’s against the law of nature. The more we will play with nature, the more we all have to pay. Every beautiful thing comes with a hefty price.

Second one is caging someone unwilling in a toxic relation. Toxic relation hurts the most. If things don’t work out just let other one free. Don’t cage them, torture them, flaunt them, force them to stay. Because the person who is suffering for FREEDOM, who is facing every torture, unwilling touch for FREEDOM, when they get a chance to be free, they become fearless, strong, daring, nothing hurts them anymore and they can do anything for FREEDOM like sparrow. Be true to yourself, what we are doing God is always watching. We can fool everyone but not Almighty and when he will make us to pay the price, it will be very hefty. Respect everyone, and always keep your trust over on God because one day he will definitely serve the justice.

  2. Hello my sister i love your words, but we all are currently in cage of a sinful world, we don’t just suffer, the word of God say creation suffer, so the bird in the cage is waiting to God to return everything back to a sinless world, when the Almighty come to make justice like you say, the cages of sin will not exist, true paradise will exist and also true freedom, Something me or you can’t even imagine, just because no human mind can understand what God has in store of His children.

Romans 8:20-For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

1 Corinthians 2:9 but just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.”

    I Love you

      1. There is SO MUCH LOVE in all the living things… you expressed it so beautifully. I had a similar experience with a TREE outside my balcony – that always felt like it’s arms were extended. One morning I heard a chain saw – it was being cut down – and it was screaming in my heart – like that bird shared with you. I cried for days. But at least I could make an offering there of water and cornmeal. I still miss that tree. I felt that connection with the whole in your words. Much love, in lak’ech, Debra

      2. I am blessed dear Debra that you felt that beautiful and special connection of your life in my words and thank you for sharing a heart touching incident of your life. The best compliment for me as a writer you gave to me. It’s very special for me too. Yes I totally agree with you, every beautiful thing is full of life whether its tree, sparrow anything and they are more expressive though they can’t speak. They have a special power called attraction full of innocence, love, warmth, peace and purity, that is why sometime we find our selves truly connected with them, like soul to soul.
God will always bless you dear Debra.
        Regards

  4. Ritika, I so enjoy your stories and how they relate to the soul and feelings within all of us. Countless songs and poems have been written about letting go of someone or something for the good of all concerned. Keeping others ‘caged’ is a terrible way live. Some things we can control and fight against, being strong and breaking away. Other things, such as COVID, unfortunately we cannot ignore and break away. We must adhere to the laws and in time, perhaps a long time, things will get better. We must never lose faith. Thank you for another wonderful story!
